animago AWARD 2018: Best Young Production

The animago AWARD for the Best Young Production, including prize money of € 3,000, went to “The Stained Club”, a short film from France, in 2018.

The movie “The Stained Club” by Mélanie Lopez, Simon Boucly, Marie Ciesielski, Alice Jaunet, Chan Stéphie Peang and Béatrice Viguier is now available online in its entirety. The film was made as a final project at Supinfocom Rubika, France.

Short Content: Finn has stains on his body. One day, he meets a group of cool kids with different stains on their bodies. One day, he understands that these stains aren’t just pretty.

The film was chosen by the jury as the best newcomer film in 2018:

What if emotional wounds turned out to be spots on the body? What would children look like if they suffered from disrespect, neglect or even physical violence at home? The visualization of this difficult theme, narrated from the naïve point of view of children, deliberately uses relatively simple-designed characters to show their original blemish. Storytelling, camera work and animation, in particular the work with light moods and colors, are at a very high level and touched the jury deeply emotionally.
