Last year’s animago AWARD for Best Young Production went to “Less than Human”, a documentary style animated film created by students at the Danish school known as The Animation Workshop. The team also took home the €3,000 sponsored by Digital Production in the category every year!

At last year’s animago, Unit Image took home their second trophy, this time for their work on a spot titled “Canal Kitchen”. Just one look at the range of visual effects in the one-minute ad is enough to understand why the jury decided in their favour.

Last year’s animago in the “Best Character” category went to a student team from the Isart Digital for their graduating film “Poilus”, in which hare characters experience the horrors of battle in a realistic war setting.

An animation film on the subject of being outed? You bet! “In a Heartbeat” was awarded the 2017 animago in the “Jury’s Prize” category not least because the student duo from the Ringling College of Art and Design made the courageous decision to explore this topic in their graduating film. Of course, the tremendous quality of their animation also helped.

Very few studios in the world have the high-end skill set needed to garner a nomination in the “Best Game Cinematic” category. Unit Image from France is one such studio, and this year they even had two trailers up for the prize. In the end, it was their cinematic announcing the second instalment of the game “Beyond Good and Evil” that won over the animago jury and garnered them the trophy.

This two-minute image film guides the viewer’s gaze through a villa, beginning with the exterior, then entering the living room, gliding through the kitchen, taking in a film in the home cinema, going to bed and, finally, sipping a morning coffee on the terrace. The expert jury at Detail Magazine selected this work by Valentinstudio from Lyon, France as the winner in this year’s “Best Architectural Visualization” category.
